Wild Turkey!

On the way to Lake Shelbyville I detoured to Lawerenceburg, KY to tour
the Wild Turkey Distillery. A big place; 900 acres, mostly huge
warehouses with bars on the lower windows full of oak barrels aging the
Turkey for 6-10 years. They have 500,000 barrels in storage! The inside
of the distillery reminded me of the papermill: lots of stainless steel
pipes and huge tanks. It's very automated and a 6 man crew actually runs
the process. Other workers take care of getting the corn and rye in and
the barrels out. The head distiller has been there for FIFTY EIGHT
YEARS!! His son is 2nd in charge and told his Dad they should retire
together.

At the end was the free sampling in their little hospitality bar room.
Good stuff!
