Akta Lakota Museum

More wind today; 40 mph gusts here this afternoon. I'm heading away
from the river towards Pipestone, MN.

Just saw the museum. Many artifacts including this authentic Sioux
warshirt. The locks of hair are from relatives for good luck in battle.

I will get a new tire Wednesday in Morristown so I'll need to stay in
the area.

Lazy Day

Looks like the wind I had in Wyoming yesterday followed me here. Very windy today; whitecaps out on the Missouri River. Sunny, though, and 64 or so. I hoped to see the Sioux Akta Lakota Museum  http://www.aktalakota.org/index.cfm?cat=84  which is within walking distance of where I'm camped, but starting today, they are closed on Sundays for the season.

I decided just to stay here another day, listen to the Bills game on the web while watching the river through my window, and see the museum tomorrow. (Sounds like it's raining in Buffalo.) I'll drive past Sioux Falls into Minnesota (someplace)  tomorrow. Made scrambled eggs for brunch!
I checked the www.toyotamotorhomes.com forum under tires and a fellow posted that he just had (6) new tires put on at Wholesale Tires in Morristown, MN. I checked and I will be driving 70 miles from there tomorrow!

Back in Chamberlain, SD

I drove 345 miles today from Moorcroft, WY back to Chamberlain, SD. This is where I camped back in Sept. 22nd. I even took the same site! Last time it was raining; this time it's sunny and a bit breezy but much less than when I left Wyoming. It was probably 30 mph or more most of the way here. Past Rapid City a chair blew out of a pickup truck in front of me!! Looks like he was moving.

I'm not sure I'll stay here more than tonight or not. There is a Sioux Indian museum here in town, along with a museum of "Famous South Dakotans".  Nice having wi-fi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a photo I took with my iPhone at Devil's Tower. Shows the Indian legend of it's origin.

East

Impossible to find a replacement spare tire around here. Weather
turning cooler & wetter next week so I've decided to head back East.
Just drove past Sturgis,SD. Nasty wind out of the NE so I'm driving
into it. Not sure if I will stop at Rapid City or go farther. I'd kind
of like a spot with electric and maybe wi-fi. Haven't had an electric
hookup for 10 days.

Devil's Tower, Wyoming (and a flat tire)

Things are very dry here. Walking on the grass sounds like walking on
gravel. Sunny & warm; had to add some Freon to the a/c.

Left to see Devil's Tower. Impressive even fro 10 miles away. It just
spouts out of the ground. Got to the park ok and slowed to see the
prairie dog town there. Started up the drive and one of the rear tires
blew!!! Sooo I pulled into a lot there and changed the tire in front
of the tower. Took an hour but couldn't have happened at a better spot
I suppose. Now I have no spare.

I hiked around the base of the tower which is 1 1/2 miles. Just
astounding. A little different all around. Indians hang prayer beads
from the trees.

Legend says a giant grizzly clawed a rock 7 girls were on. They prayed
and the rock grew higher.

Deadwood

The Oyster Bay Bar where Wild Bill Hickock ate and his grave.

Wyoming

Here's my camp. Again almost no connection.
